The Spinning Reel Built to Last
The Authority is one of Penn’s most durable models to date, due to its IPX8 sealed body. The IPX (Ingress Protection System) is used to rate the degree of protection or sealing effectiveness against intrusion of objects, water and dust with 8 being the highest a product can rate.
To achieve an IPX8 rating, a reel must withstand water ingress into the reel’s body, spool, or drag system at a depth of 1 metre for at least 30 minutes. This ultra-secure seal makes the Penn Authority one of the most durable reels on the market.

Full Metal Body
The full metal body with side-plate and rotor keep the internal gears protected and stops any flex in the reels frame, making it extremely strong under extreme pressure.
A 12+1 Premium Steel Bearings
The Authority’s 12+1 bearing system for smooth retrieve with additional bearings in the spool that helps support the drag when under heavy pressure.
Dura-Drag Technology
The Authority produces outstanding drag pressure in each model that features carbon drag washers that are impregnated with phenolic bonding agent to reduce wear.
