Some things need no introduction. Shimano’s reputation precedes them with their Stella reel range. Stella reels are recognized as some of the smoothest reels ever produced. From light tackle through to heavy, the Stella range has you covered. With any of these market-leading products, Stella keeps evolving, offering anglers more precise engineering and smooth casting with every iteration. If you’re looking for the ultimate light spinner, the new Shimano Stella Infinity Evolution FK might be the reel for you. Here’s why.
The 22 Shimano Stella Infinity Evolution
Shimano debuted the Stella reel in 1992 introducing anglers to Shimano Balance Lock (SBL). The elegant, light reel offers better balance and powerful rotation. The smooth reeling experience is what sets Stella apart.
Its exceptional performance and sleek design quickly made Stella popular with anglers across the globe. Shimano’s continued refinement of the Stella range has kept it a world-class favourite.
The newest iteration, the Stella FK, promises even smoother casts with light lures, more efficiency in the wind, and more durability. It’s the best reel yet in the Stella line.
Advanced engineering and the new InfinityDrive system are central to the 22 Stella Infinity Evolution line. The system uses bushings so the main shaft never touches the inner pinion gear.
The result is more consistent spool control and brake force. This prevents backlashing and allows for lighter winding—even when you’ve got a spirited trout or catfish on the line.
Shimano’s 22 Stella FK will be available in five sizes (1000 to C5000). So, there’s a new Stella built to handle your preferred line—from 2 lb test mono line to 40 lb power proline.
The Evolution of Light Tackle Precision
For fishing with light tackle, most anglers agree that spinning reels are the best all-around type of reel along with being the Rolls Royce of the light spinners. The new Shimano Stella Infinity Evolution carries on that tradition with some major upgrades.
Infinity Loop
The precise winding pattern creates less overlap, significantly reducing friction as the line leaves the spool. This equals smooth casting and exceptional performance, especially with light lures.
Infinity Xross
Shimano has expanded the drive gear tooth horizontally, creating more surface contact and uniform meshing. This distributes the load between the drive and pinion gears more efficiently, improving overall gear durability.
Infinity Drive
The goal of Infinity Drive is to decrease frictional resistance. It uses low-friction bushing to significantly decrease resistance on the main shaft. The result is increased power transmission and torque even when you snag a fighter.
Anti-Twist Fin
There’s a flexible polymer fin near the line roller. It helps maintain better line tension and reduces sagging. This keeps the line from falling off the bottom of the spool and wrapping around the spool unevenly.
DuraCross
Shimano’s revolutionary new drag washer uses cutting-edge materials woven in a unique pattern. This makes it substantially more durable while providing smooth, consistent drag performance.
Propulsion Spool Lip Design
The 22 Stella uses the patented AR-C Propulsion Spool Lip design that gives Shimano reels better casting distances than a standard lip spool. It also prevents backlashes and keeps wind knots from forming.
