Keeping track of time is essential whenever you are outdoors or in the city. Here are some ocean-inspired watches that can remind you of the sea.

From luxury Swiss-made watches to affordable daily-use beaters, boardroom meetings to appointments with marlin, we list down our Top 10 ocean inspired watches that would fit any anglers’ wrist perfectly.

Rolex Yacht-Master 42

Rolex, the maker of the first-ever waterproof wristwatch back in 1926, has continued to make drool-worthy waterproof watches for active and casual use.

Known for their luxurious professional dive watches, we take a different route and look at Rolex’s “watch of the open seas”, the Yacht-Master 42.

The Yacht-Master 42 is a very sporty and cool looking watch, that can take some outdoor abuse but will also look sweet in any formal or cocktail event.

Not ideal for hard-core diving though as its water resistance is rated to only 100M. Still capable of handling shallow depths.

Styling and design cues from the Submariner are still present, Rolex has developed the Yacht-Master into a more subtle, sporty but still elegantly refined watch.

The Yacht-Master 42 keeps things fresh and modern with an Oysterflex rubber bracelet, which offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets.

Its tag price might make you second guess the new Toyota at the car dealers though.

The case is made out of 18k white gold, made directly from Rolex’s foundry. White gold bidirectional rotating bezel too.

The Rolex Yacht-Master 42 might be a long shot for fishing guides like us, but anglers have dreams too.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

Another potential one-watch for all occasions, the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is a beautiful ‘entry-level’ watch in the world of fine watches.

Plus, you get to rock James Bond’s preferred watch brand as a bonus. What’s not to like?

Although titled the Seamaster, the Aqua Terra is rated down to 150M only and is not a dive watch like you would think it is.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra boasts an elegant traditional look, with its minimalist face and non-rotational dial matched with their classic brushed and polished stainless-steel bracelet.

Traditional and subtle styling imbues a well-groomed yachtsman taking his pride and joy for a ride along the coast.

Not a hard-core outdoors watch by any means, but more of a beach-side dinner watch. Or a yacht party watch. Whatever pulls your line.

Still worthy of its name and title, the Seamaster is fit for the master of the sea.

An awesome all-around, daily use watch, that fits well on the ocean and in the function hall. The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M is a tough cookie to beat.

Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80

Finally, we put on a dive watch.

And no, it is not related to our favorite hydraulic boat steering systems.

The Tissot Seastar 1000 takes the classic dive watch styling and functionality but combines it with a sophisticated appearance that can be rocked on or underwater, and on land.

It maintains its performance down to 300M, making this a functional diving timepiece.

The utilitarian rubber strap with a divers’ buckle and extension adds to the functionality of the watch but keeps it comfortable for all-day wear.

Traditional looks and functionality, with obvious styling cues borrowed from the oceans we love.

This is a watch that will keep you looking posh without breaking the bank while leaving you wanting for the beauty of the sea.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 Tortoise Shell

A crowd favorite among watch enthusiasts, Tag Heuer’s Aquaracer boasts both functionality and style.

TAG Heuer’s vision of an aquatic timepiece, the Aquaracer is a no-nonsense and relatively simple dive watch, receiving style and design cues from the classic Heuer 2000.

As watchmakers that take inspiration heavily from motorsports, Tag Heuer now borrows from the ocean, with a Tortoiseshell resin on the familiar 12-sided angular bezel.

Imagine pairing it with your tortoiseshell Maui Jims? Talk about looking the part.

The high-end rubber strap keeps things comfortable and has a rippling print on it to get an alligator skin effect.

Rock this watch on the water, at the docks, at your mates’ bucks and wedding. It’ll keep you cool, classy, and salty.

Casio G-Shock MUDMASTER GWG1000

Now we’re getting into the utilitarian watches, meant for the outdoor abuse that we anglers put our gear through on the regular.

The G-shock MUDMASTER screams EXTREME and will no doubt survive any fishing or world-ending disaster.

Designed to withstand and perform under harsh conditions, the MUDMASTER is an adventure worker’s watch.

It may not appeal to everyone and is understandably a developed taste, but G-shocks are made to be tough and easily looks the part.

They offer quite the bang for your buck as well.

Casio G-shock GBX100

Not as EXTREME as the MUDMASTER, the G-LIDE GBX100 offers us anglers one of the best watch functions out there. Tides.

The GBX100 models are the latest additions to the G-LIDE lineup of G-SHOCK sports watches, which were designed for surfers in search of the perfect wave.

It comes with the ability to display high tide and low tide times and levels.

A phone application can be used to select one of approximately 3,300 locations around the globe for tide accuracy.

The large LCD screen shows standard functions like Tide Graph, Moon Data, high tide and low tide times, and sunrise and sunset times.

G-shock protection and toughness, with Tide and moon information. Is this an ‘accidentally’ perfect fishing watch?

Nixon Regulus

Here’s one for those who are tired of Casio’s offerings.

The modernist stylings of the Nixon Regulus offer both function and modern style that can be used on and off the water.

The Regulus was designed in collaboration with the US military and is a no-nonsense digital watch that can survive extremely harsh conditions.

It’s clean and simple styling allows it to be used casually as a daily driver, but may feel left out in a board meeting.

Board or boring meetings aside, the Regulus is a top contender in the tough watch market and will rest easily on any angler’s wrist.

A potential must-buy for lovers of the fine art of fishing.

Nixon Ripley

Versatility. The single word that describes this beauty of a daily driver watch.

The Nixon Ripley offers digital performance but can be hidden to exude a classier look.

Remember the board meetings? This may be the best workaround.

Hitting the bay for a session? No problem! Meeting with clients in the board room? Activate “City Mode” to hide the digital functions.

Constructed with the same shock-resistant polycarbonate case as its more robust sibling, the Regulus, it can survive unexpected impacts and outdoor use.

Additional functions like the temperature, chronograph, and alarm will help with the fishing side of things.

While the altimeter will possibly help those climbing the mountains to catch trout and other freshies.

Digital and City mode. The best of both worlds.

Timex Navi XL

Getting to one of the classiest ‘beater’ watches that you can use daily, but still, keep the ocean close, is the Timex Navi.

The Timex Navi XL Harbour, which comes in a beautiful shade of blue that takes from its dive watch design roots.

A traditional dive-watch design and look, with a stainless steel case, navy blue dial, and comfortable black silicone strap keep things cool and very salty.

Another must-buy for those wanting a daily-use watch that can hold its ground on the water and in the board room.

Alexandre Christie 6501 MC

And finally, we have the Alexandre Christie 6501 MC. A daily-use watch that can easily hold its own in extreme conditions while looking the goods in the city.

It is as appropriate for the office as it is for the outdoors.

Don’t be tempted to take it for a dive though. It’s only rated to 50M so keep to snorkeling, kayaking and of course, fishing.

With subtle aquamarine colored hands, it keeps with the oceanic theme we love having on our wrists.

Such a great value with a classic design that cannot be denied by even the most elite watch enthusiast.

We hope you enjoyed our watch article as much as we enjoyed compiling it.

The Rolex and Omega models are such beauties and are worth aiming for. But the Timex daily driver along with the G-shocks and Nixons are well worth the money for regular outdoor use.

Which of these watches do you already own? And which is your favorite one on the list?
